Wedded Bliss

It's very hard to believe that it was on this day, ten (yes TEN!) blissful years ago, Chris and I were married. It was a HOT and HUMID day. Did I mention that it was HOT and HUMID? Oh my. Our church had no air conditioning at that time (curses). I should re-thank all of you who stood up for us or attended the ceremony or participated in any way. You are all real troopers. THANK YOU!

Ten years have flown right by. I wouldn't turn a single one of them back in for a redo. I'm hoping for many, many more. I wouldn't mind if they slowed down a little though.

Here's to CJS and me! Happy anniversary to us!

Lakefront Property

We now live on a lake! Unfortunately it won't be sticking around long. The muck fields behind our house flooded with all of the rain we got over the weekend. It sure was a lot of rain! Maybe we should quickly try to sell our house while it appears to be lakefront property. It's too bad that when you get up close to it all you see is brown nasty-ness. In the end we'd probably wind up losing money. Maybe we'll just enjoy the view while it lasts.

Last Day...again

Today is Derek's last day of 1st grade. I asked him if we was going to cry when he has to say goodbye to his teacher and he just said, "mom!". I'm sure you can imagine the sound of that word coming out of his mouth. The tone that implies he can hardly tolerate the thought of responding to such a ridiculous question.

He did have a wonderful teacher this year. Derek really liked her and I'm pretty sure she enjoyed having him in her class as well. What a blessing! He really has been blessed with fantastic teachers so far in his short school career. He's so confident and just really enjoys learning new things. I know that great teachers are a BIG part of that and I'm thankful.

I'll be spending the summer praying for another fabulous teacher for him next year and friendships to be thankful for too.

Last Day

Today is Lukas' last day of school for this year. Where has an entire school-year gone? Doesn't it seem like I was just posting about moving into this house and spying on the kids out the front window as the school-year began? I'm guessing it will feel like only another handful of posts and the new school-year will be upon us. Lukas will be off to Kindergarten next year. I sure hope he's ready. His current teacher claims he is. I'm pretty sure he is, it's just that he doesn't seem as old to me as Derek did at this age. He's just so precious yet. I don't want him to grow out of that. Derek is only in first grade and already he's convinced that his parents know nothing, his friends (who have lived for 8 LONG years) know a LOT, and he needs to express his disgust for his parents with eye-rolling and little phrases like "whatever" and "duh". Oh, how I wish they could stay 5 forever!
