Memorial Weekend......(a bit delayed)

Here are some pics of our Memorial weekend up north. We had fabulous weather and lots of fun!

Derek spent most of his time fishing. He and Grandpa just can't resist. They didn't catch very many, but they kept at it anyway. Derek's highlight was when Grandpa taught him to fly fish. Oh boy, more stuff for us to buy!

Lukas stayed busy with many different activities. We call him a "putzer" because he's always busy doing something. He jumped right in when it was time to get the dock and boats in and clean up the beach. The beach never looked so clean!

Hanna really enjoyed the beach. We weren't sure if she would find enough to do to keep her happy, but she really enjoyed it. We did take quite a bit of sand and dirt home with us from the her intestines! I was hoping she could resist eating the nasty cottage dirt, but no such luck. She did eat a lot of food as well. She really liked the elephant ears that we make over the fire...mmmm...who doesn't?!?!

Chris helped Grandpa put in the dock and the boats. He took home a "jacked up" back and wound up visiting Dr. Crawford for some adjusting. He says it's feeling better. All I know is that it looks a lot better. I'm pretty sure your spine should look straight when you stand up and not the letter "S"!

I tested out Grandma's new beach chairs and gave them an A+ for comfort! The sun needed someone to appreciate it for showing up in such a big way for the holiday weekend, and I was just the gal for the job. The sun and I do enjoy one another.

Anyway, that about sums it up. Good times had by all!

Big Girl Bed

So I've been gradually moving Hanna's stuff back upstairs into the "yellow" room. She had moved out of this room into the downstairs room because it was warmer in the winter. Because I do not want to paint walls that are less than a year old, Hanna will be moving back upstairs into a "girly" colored room and Baby Boy will be shacking up downstairs in a "boyish" colored room. The downstairs bathroom will remain the boy bathroom and the upstairs bathroom will remain the girl bathroom. This all works out great for decorating purposes. And I don't have to try to create any unisex spaces. Hurray!

Since moving into this house, I hadn't hung up any of Hanna's room decor because I wasn't sure which room would be hers. Since making the decision to move her back upstairs, I've just been slowly hanging things and getting ready to make the switch. Today I finished the decor process (as much as I could with what I had) and furniture moving.

When the room was finished, it looked so ready for her to move into. I decided to try her nap today in her very large, queen size bed. To my amazement, she went right to sleep! Hopefully she won't have a panic attack when she wakes up in her new giant bed.

I guess she's big now!

Check it out!

It's garage sale time! The following is a link to the information for this year's "We Love T.J. and Skylee Starr" sale. This is the garage sale (they call it a garage sale but it's so much more than that) that helped us bring Hanna home from Ethiopia (and Gabe and Kenzie from Guatemala, and Kobe and Nate from South Korea, and Rosemie and Naomi from Haiti). It truly is an amazing event and we'd love it if any or all of you could head out to the sale to help us bring another little one home from Nepal.

Check it out HERE.

Happy Number 8!

Eight years ago today, a very healthy and precious boy entered this world. We welcomed Derek Robert at 4:37 a.m. He weighed in at 8 lbs. and 10 ounces. He entered the world with a baseball bat in his hand and cleats on his feet (ok just kidding, but he did don them at a very early age). He still loves all of his sports and claims that he'll play them professionally one day. We'll have to wait to see about that. For now, he's eight and has the world by the tail. What a neat kid he is (even when he says things to me like, "now listen here Missy"...I'm not sure if he got the memo that he's 8 and not 13!).

Anyway, if you see him today, be sure to wish him a very happy birthday!
